Hello, dear ones. I am ill. My head is in a fog as the heat wave grips us. I’ve got the flu, and it’s a strange sensation, a fever in this wild late-season heat. My nerves are all aflame inside my body, making it painful to stand. My usual chores? The laundry and dishes and bathrooms and floors and everything? I’m limping by. But perhaps the worst outcome of all is that this incessant pounding head prevents me from reading most everything.
It goes without saying that writing my newsletter this week proved utterly impossible. But thankfully, thankfully, last week I recorded a podcast episode with one of my favorite friends in the world, Kat D. James. And I offer it up to you here, if you wish to see my face and hear my thoughts as we have a wide-ranging conversation about capitalism, homeschooling, cooking simple meals, ancestral wisdom, the patriarchy, revolution, inclusivity, and rest as a value.
Kat and I had an absolute blast filming and recording this episode, and she makes some pretty great edits around all of the interruptions from my children. I loved getting to be a guest on her lovely show, where she offers restorative yoga Nidra sessions, tarot wisdom, and beautiful conversations with mothers and women around ways we can honor our bodies and our need for rest in a western, productivity-focused society.
I know it’s not a newsletter, but I hope you enjoy our conversation nonetheless. I will be back next week with my usual musings. Thank you for being here, loves.
